For this month’s collaboration we all voted on a grunge look. Grunge is in right now, so why not?
For inspiration I looked at photos of Allison from The Breakfast Club. This is pre-90s grunge, but I love it. She had sloppy, smokey eyelids with a lot of smudged black liner, and a rather pale face and pale lips. I decided to add some matte lipstick, though (I used the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in Touch of Spice).
For my eye makeup I used my fingers to apply it (I used my Paula’s Choice The Nude Mattes Palette). I wanted my eye makeup to be intentionally sloppy and uneven, so what better way to apply and smudge it than with your fingers? For my eyeliner I used a gel liner (any gel liner will do), then took some black eye shadow on a smudge brush to smudge it on both my upper and lower lash line.
I skipped blush and highlight, and tried to keep the look fairly matte. I did add a bit of matte bronzer here (Too Faced Bronzed and Poreless), but I look so pale that you can’t see it, ha. I can’t really remember which foundation I used, but I thiiiink it was L’Oreal True Match, which I loaded down with some mattifying powder from Rimmel.
This is probably one of the easiest looks I’ve done in the collaborations so far. It took hardly any time since precision didn’t matter with this look, and I could skip a few steps. Check out the following bloggers as they post their looks over the next several days:
